What we are here for
Beautiful homes are meant to be lived in
LAR was created for people who love good design – and live with dogs. We believe a home doesn’t need to be perfect to be beautiful. It should be full of life. That’s why we create cotton blankets made to be used every day: super soft, durable and designed to look good wherever life happens – on the sofa, outdoors, or in between.
LAR means home in Portuguese. And that meaning goes beyond the spaces we want to fill with our products. With every blanket we support shelter dogs and cats in Portugal, helping them get closer to a home of their own. Because good design should feel good. And doing good should feel natural.
Who we are
Hi, I'm Susanne, the founder of LAR.
I’ve spent over 15 years working with lifestyle brands and creative projects, always drawn to good design and things that are made to last. But I’m also a lifelong dog lover. Adopting my dog in 2014 was transformative and changed the way I see home, responsibility, and everyday life.
Like many people who live with dogs, I never wanted to choose between a home that looks good and one that actually works. LAR grew out of that wish. It’s my way of creating objects that feel good to use, look good in your home, and quietly do some good along the way.
Where our products are made
Blankets made in Portugal
Portugal has a long tradition of textile craftsmanship. It’s built on skill, care and deep material knowledge passed down through generations. On doing things properly, not quickly. Where quality matters more than speed, and relationships matter more than volume.
Working with experienced Portuguese partners allows us to create jacquard-knit blankets to a high standard, using 100% natural fibres and responsible production methods. Everything is made in the EU, with care at every step.
For us, producing in Portugal isn’t just a production choice. It’s where our home is. Making our Portuguese blankets here reflects how we work and what we value: quality that lasts, honest relationships, and respect for the craft behind everyday objects.
