Our commitment: LAR and animal welfare

We believe every dog deserves a home, and every home a dog.

Gründerin von LAR Home mit Hund aus dem Tierschutz in Portugal

Portugal is our home, yet many animals never find one. LAR was created not just for beautiful, practical textiles, but to make a difference. Supporting animal rescue organisations and giving a second chance is built into how we operate, not a campaign or tagline.

Founder Susanne has been working with Patas da Ericeira, a local animal rescue organisation, since 2024, seeing first hand the struggle animals and volunteers face. Through LAR, we want to celebrate rescue dogs: their unique looks, joyful characters and the happiness they bring, encouraging more people to welcome a rescue into their home.

Blankets for animal rescue? How it works

25% of profits

We will donate 25% of our profits to animal rights associations, starting with local assocations close to our home.

Raise awareness

We regularly showcase rescue dogs, highlighting their character and beauty and aim to reduce prejudices.

Direct help

We partner with organisations we trust, ensuring funds go directly to medical care, foster and adoption programmes.

Building a network of partners

We start locally, supporting Ericeira Paws (Patas da Ericeira in Portuguese) and our local shelter. Over time, we aim to team up with more organisations, all aligned with the goal of helping abandoned dogs and cats find their forever homes.

Stories of impact: Cappuccino

Cappuccino is a young pup who arrived at the shelter deeply frightened. He was fostered by LAR founder Susanne, where he experienced the comfort of a calm, loving home.

In a safe environment, Cappuccino quickly opened up, winning everyone over with his playful energy. When he was ready for the next chapter, we found the right match — someone able to give him the attention and love a young dog needs. Today, he lives in Lisbon and is thriving.

Stories of impact: Lulu

Lulu is a former hunting dog who was abandoned during a storm with two broken legs. He was found and taken in by Patas da Ericeira, where his recovery began.

After years of neglect, multiple surgeries and months of care, Lulu finally experienced what it means to be safe and looked after. Today, he lives near Milan with his two humans, another dog, and a cat – spending his days exploring and sniffing the Italian countryside.
