Friends of LAR: The people behind the brand

Behind every brand is a shared way of thinking.

Friends of LAR is a growing circle of creative minds and individuals who have helped shape LAR along the way, connected by a belief in thoughtful design and things made to last.

Lotte Lieb, Berlin

Lotte is a Berlin-based visual artist and the designer behind LAR’s logo and first product – named after her dog, Camillo, a rescued Galgo with the calmest soul.

Her home is always a work in progress. A place shaped slowly, with space to create, pause and share everyday moments with her dog.

You’ll typically find Lotte by the canal in Neukölln or taking Camillo out to the forest. On weekends, she often escapes to the Uckermark to get her hands dirty and clear her head.

For her, creativity lives in the city, while calm is found outdoors.

Aina Erika, Copenhagen

Aina Erika is a fashion and pattern designer based in Copenhagen and has been a great sounding board throughout the development of the first product, from materials and production techniques to colours and the small details that make a blanket just feel right.

She lives with her partner, a 1962 vintage IKEA sofa in deep green, and Bruno – a dachshund with an outsized personality and a serious commitment to sofa time. Bruno has recently taken on a new role too: big brother to baby Odin.

With her textile background, Bruno is already kitted out in bespoke dog coats for Nordic winters. And we've been quietly dreaming about what we might create together for LAR one day.

Watch this space.

Agathe Wahl & Nicolo Carugo, Lisbon and Milan

Agathe and Nico are two of the kindest people I know: with big hearts and a home that's always open. To friends, fosters, and whoever needs it most.

I met them when they were fostering Lulu, a hunting dog with broken legs who'd been abandoned in the middle of a storm. Lulu, of course, never left. Alongside him: Bonnie, a rescue from a Portuguese shelter, and Romy, a kitten they found outside their apartment and nursed back to health.

Agathe has been a great sparring partner for LAR from day one, sharing her instinct for colour, design and a belief in what I am building. Both her and Nicolo have also been strongly involved in our local animal rights association Patas da Ericeira, where I met them.

They've since packed up the whole crew and moved from Portugal to Milan. Same open hearts, new city.

Lenci Yan, Hamburg

Meet Lenci and her dog Charlie – quite possibly the owner of the funniest face in the room.

Lenci is a creative director I met on LinkedIn, after she offered her support pro bono to female founders. We clicked on our first call.

When I shared the idea for LAR – a blanket made from natural fibres, designed to be easier to live with in dog households – she offered the perfect use case without saying a word: Charlie, stretched out on the sofa, calmly occupying a blanket in the background.

Since then, Lenci has become an important part of the journey, bringing her design sensibility, love for rescue dogs and experience in the textile industry. She is also the founder of her own label baixbai.

Some collaborations simply feel right.
